Hello there! If you’re reading this, then you’re probably as curious about affiliate marketing as much as I am. I’ve heard so much about people making a decent income from it, and I thought, why not give it a try? This blog is going to be a chronicle of my journey, sharing all the highs, lows, and everything in between. So, join me in diving into the world of affiliate marketing.
What is Affiliate Marketing
Before jumping in, I needed to understand what affiliate marketing actually is. Essentially, it’s a way to earn a commission by promoting other people’s (or company’s) products. You find a product you like, promote it to others, and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make. Sounds simple, right? Well, let’s see how it goes.
Choosing a Niche
The first piece of advice I came across was to pick a niche. A niche is a specific area or topic you’re passionate about and knowledgeable about. This makes creating content and promoting products more authentic and enjoyable. After some brainstorming, I decided on marketing materials around starting a business. It’s something I love and can talk about for hours. I’ve started multiple businesses with my most profitable being a T-Shirt business. We’ll discuss this is a later blog post for anyone interested in starting their own T-Shirt business.
Finding Affiliate Programs
Next up was finding affiliate programs that are trustworthy and have known brands. There are countless affiliate programs out there, but I focused on reputable ones with products that I believe in. A few platforms I found helpful were:
– Cj Affliate: Perfect for beginners with a wide range of products.
– ShareASale: Offers a variety of programs across different niches.
– ClickBank: Known for digital products, great for info-based niches.
Selecting an Affiliate Program
To start out my journey, I’ve decided to focus on one program at a time to stay on track and not get overwhelmed. After my research and consideration, I’ve chosen to go with ShareASale to navigate this affiliate journey. I’ve made an account and selected merchants to partner with, but I am waiting on approval before I can officially start. I’m looking forward to this journey and I will update you all on the next steps which include creating content, learning SEO, and building a platform.
